Maa Bhagwati Kirana & General Store

Our store, Maa Bhagwati Kirana & General Store, is located on Amer Road in the New Indra Colony area. We are not too far from Jal Mahal, which is a place everyone knows. The shop isn't very large, but we try to fit all the basic grocery items that the local families need for their kitchens. I started this place because I wanted something of my own close to home. Most mornings start early with getting the milk packets ready and sweeping the front. It’s a bit dusty on the main road, so keeping things clean is a constant job. We sell everything from dal and rice to soaps and small snacks for the kids. People from the colony come in throughout the day, usually just for one or two items they forgot to buy earlier. I handle the accounts myself in a small notebook I keep behind the counter. Sometimes the kids come in after school to grab a treat, and that’s always the loudest part of the day. The shelves are a bit crowded, and I probably need to rearrange the back room soon. It’s a basic neighborhood kirana shop, nothing fancy or modern about it. We don’t do home delivery or anything, people just walk over. Amer Road is always busy with traffic, but inside the colony, it’s a bit more relaxed. We’ve been here long enough that I know which brand of tea most neighbors prefer to drink.
