Out here in Vaishali Nagar, the sun gets pretty hot during the summer months. Kamal Coach Works is right at A 298, and if you come by, you’ll hear the sound of hammers and metal work long before you see the gate. It is a bit dusty, but that’s just how a workshop is. We spend most of our time on our feet. My father was the one who really knew the ins and outs of vehicle bodies, and he taught us everything. We don't have a flashy showroom. Most of our tools are old, but they work just fine for what we need. Sometimes a job takes longer because we like to make sure it’s done right, not because we are trying to be perfect, but because we don’t want it coming back broken. We drink a lot of chai to keep going. The guys in the shop have been here for years. We know each other's families and stories. It is a loud place, and we usually go home covered in grease, but it feels like honest work. We aren't trying to change the world or anything like that. We just fix things and build what’s needed for the local people who trust us. It gets quiet in the evenings when we finally lock up. It’s a long day, but it’s a good one for anyone who likes working with their hands.
