Kalp Creations

You can find us at No. 150 in Haldia House, which is right in the heart of Johari Bazar. If you’ve ever been to this part of the city, you know how packed it is with people and rickshaws. Kalp Creations operates from a small space within this old building. The stairs are narrow and a bit steep, but once you get up here, it’s a bit calmer than the street below. We’ve been here long enough that we know most of the other shopkeepers in Haldia House. We spend our time working on designs and talking to the people who supply our materials. The room is usually a bit of a mess with threads and paper everywhere. We don’t have a fancy lobby or a receptionist. Usually, whoever is closest to the door is the one who says hello. We do most of our work by hand, so it takes a bit of time. We don’t like to rush things because that’s when errors happen. The light in the bazar is beautiful in the morning, but by the evening, we’re relying on a few overhead bulbs. It’s a simple life of making things and selling them to whoever walks in. We aren't interested in being a big name. We just want to keep the shop running and do right by the people who buy from us. Some days are slow and we just sit and talk, other days we barely have time to eat.
