It isn't a massive warehouse or a factory; it's more of a home-based setup where we handle the daily details. Murlipura is a busy part of Jaipur, but our street is a bit more tucked away from the main road. We have piles of rugs in some of the rooms, and the smell of wool is always around. It’s a natural, heavy smell that I’ve grown to like over the years. We spend a lot of time on the phone talking to weavers or checking on shipments going out. The rugs come from all over, and each one has a different story to tell. My desk is usually a mess of thread samples and shipping labels. We don't have a big fancy showroom with bright lights or mirrors. If you come here, you might have to step over a few rolls of carpet sitting on the floor. It’s a working house, not a gallery. Sometimes the kids from the neighborhood play cricket outside and the ball hits the gate, making a loud bang. We just keep working. We’ve been part of this community for a while now. It’s honest work, dealing with things people make by hand with so much effort. We don't use a lot of fancy computers, just enough to get the job done. It feels good to be surrounded by these patterns and colors all day.
