If you go down Vatika Road in the Sanganer area of Jaipur, you will find us there. Hari Narayan Kirana & General Store is tucked into a spot where the road gets quite busy. It is a standard kirana shop, nothing too special to look at from the outside. I have spent many years standing here among the bags of rice and the smell of spices. The Jaipur heat can be tough, but the shop stays relatively cool inside because of the high ceiling. We stock the basic things people need every day like sugar, tea leaves, and matches. I like the routine of it, opening the shutters and seeing the same faces every morning. Vatika Road has changed a lot, with more traffic and noise than there used to be. My brother helps me out sometimes when we have to unload the heavy crates. We do not have any fancy displays or lights. Everything is just stacked where there is space. People come in for their monthly groceries and we write it down or take the cash. It is a bit dusty because of the construction nearby, but that is just part of being in this part of Sanganer. I try to keep the staples like salt and oil always in stock because those are what people need the most. It is just a local business trying to keep up with the daily rush of the street.
