We are out on the Sikar Road in Rampura Dabri, which is a bit of a drive from the main part of Jaipur. Our place is easy to find if you are looking for the sign, but otherwise, it is just another gate along the long road. We work with heavy machinery, specifically hydraulics and the equipment that goes with it. The yard is usually full of parts and big machines that need fixing or checking over. It gets very dusty out here, especially when the wind picks up across the landscape. We have a small crew of mechanics and helpers who really know their way around a hydraulic pump. There is no air conditioning in the main workshop, so we drink a lot of water and try to get the heaviest work done early in the morning before it gets too hot. We started this because we saw a real need for mechanical repair work in this part of the state. It isn't a glamorous job at all. We spend our days covered in oil and grit, trying to get a cylinder to move again or fixing a stubborn leak in a hose. Sometimes the parts we need take a while to get delivered, so we have to be patient. We aren't a big corporate office; we are just a group of guys who like mechanical work. We keep things simple.
