Gupta Marbles

We are out here in Kishangarh, specifically on Parraweena Road. Gupta Marbles is just a short distance from the Ranabai petrol pumps. If you know this part of Ajmer, you know it's the heart of the marble trade. There are hundreds of shops, but we just keep to ourselves on Sp-1/B. We have been here for a good amount of time. The yard is usually full of slabs. Some days it’s chaotic with the cranes moving stuff around. We sell mostly local stones and some others that come in from different quarries. It’s a family-run kind of thing. We don't use big words to describe what we do. We just sell stone. When a customer comes in, we walk them through the rows of marble. We explain how some pieces have more veins than others. It’s hard work and the weather in Ajmer can be tough. The dust gets everywhere, even inside the small office room. We have some regulars who have been buying from us since we opened. They know we don’t overcomplicate things. We just give a price and load the truck. The road outside gets busy with tractors and lorries. It’s a noisy life but it’s ours. We keep the gates open six days a week and sometimes on Sundays if there is a big order to finish. We are just simple people working with stone every day.
