Guddu Kirana & General Store

Down here in Navdurga Colony, things move a bit slower than the main city center. Our shop, Guddu Kirana & General Store, is located at B-5 in the Sushilpura area of Sodala. Jaipur is growing fast, but this part of Sodala still feels like a neighborhood where everyone knows each other. I spend my time mostly behind the counter. We have bags of rice and sugar sitting near the entrance because there isn't much room in the back. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint, but they are covered with calendars and small racks anyway. People come in for small things, maybe a packet of biscuits or some spices for their evening meal. We keep the general store items mixed in with the kirana stuff. Sometimes the kids from the colony come in with a few coins for candy. It’s a simple setup. Navdurga Colony is tucked away, so we don't get many strangers. It is mostly just the families living nearby. I’ve lived in Jaipur my whole life and working here in Sodala feels right. We don't have a website or anything like that. If you need something, you just walk to B-5 and ask. The sun hits the front of the shop in the afternoon, so we pull the shade down a bit. It’s just a normal day-to-day business where we try to keep the basic items in stock for the neighbors.
