It’s a very traditional kind of place. We don't have fancy barcodes or shopping carts. You just come in, ask for what you need, and we weigh it out for you. The bags of flour and rice take up a lot of space on the floor. It can get a bit cramped when three or four people come in at the same time. We’ve known some of our customers for years. They live in the lanes nearby and come in for their daily supplies. We hear all the local gossip while we are wrapping up packages. Johari Bazar is famous for jewelry, but people still need their groceries too. The shop has been here for a long time, and the wooden counters are worn smooth from years of use. It’s a simple life, opening early and closing late. We drink a lot of tea throughout the day to keep our energy up. When the shutters go down at night, the whole market finally goes quiet, and it’s a strange feeling after all the noise of the day.
