Our place, Bharat Stone Pvt. Ltd., is tucked away at 3312 Govind Rao Ji Ka Rasta. It’s an older part of town, so the streets can be a bit narrow and crowded. If you’re trying to find us, just look for the stacks of stone slabs near the front entrance. We’ve been operating from this same address for a long time. It has a real family-run kind of feel here, even though we’re technically a private limited company on the paperwork. We deal with all sorts of stone blocks and tiles. The work is very physical and we’re usually covered in a bit of grit and dirt by noon. We don’t really do any big advertisements or marketing. Most people find us because they know someone else who bought stone here before. We have a small crew and we all know each other pretty well. Sometimes we sit and eat lunch together in the shade of the warehouse when it gets too hot. The phone rings quite a bit with people asking about the current prices or if a certain type of stone is in stock today. We have to go out and check the piles manually because the inventory changes so often. It's not a high-tech operation by any means. We use old-fashioned measuring tapes and write everything down in big blue notebooks. When a truck arrives to pick up an order, everyone pitches in to help.
