Chanakya B.Ed. College

Our place, Chanakya B.Ed. College, is located out on NH 8 in Kirarod. Being on the highway means there is always a lot of dust and the constant sound of big trucks passing by, but it’s where we are. It’s a bit far from the main Jaipur city, so most people have a long commute every day to get here. The college is mostly about training people to become teachers. You see a lot of students practicing their lesson plans or carrying around those big charts they make for their practicals. The building itself is quite simple and functional. We have a small canteen where everyone goes for a quick samosa or tea between the sessions. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to wait a bit for it to come back, but that is just how things go in this area. The classrooms have wooden desks that have been around for a few years now. It’s not a fancy spot, but it serves the purpose for everyone living around this part of Rajasthan. We spend a lot of time dealing with paperwork and making sure everything is in order. It gets very hot in the afternoons here, and the wind blows the sand in from the road. The students are mostly serious because they really want those teaching jobs. We just keep things running as best as we can, day after day, out here on the highway near Jaipur.
