The Birla Institute Of Tech extension center is down here in the Malviya Nagar Industrial Area. Being at Sector 27 means we are surrounded by a lot of factories and workshops, so it is not exactly a leafy, quiet spot. It is an industrial setting, which actually fits the kind of technical work that goes on here. The building is simple and focused on the labs and classrooms. We have a lot of equipment that needs constant looking after, and the students are always messing with things to see how they work. The air around here often has that metallic smell from the nearby units. It can get pretty hot in the afternoons, especially in the workshops where the machines are running. We do not have any fancy landscaping, just a practical entrance in the middle of the industrial zone. Most of the staff have been here for years and we know the shortcuts through Malviya Nagar to avoid the morning traffic. It is a lot of hands-on work and not much sitting around. The walls have some marks on them from moving equipment, and the floors are meant to be durable rather than pretty. We just open the gates, get the machines warmed up, and start the day. It is a no-nonsense kind of place for people who are interested in how things are built and repaired. We just keep our heads down and handle the daily technical tasks that need to be done.
