Basant Kirana Store

If you go to Badi Chaupar, you can find us at 71 Katla Purohitji Manihari. We have been running this kirana store for quite some time now. It’s in an old part of the city, so the streets are narrow and always full of people. We sell grains, spices, and other cooking essentials. The smell of different spices is always around the shop. It is a small place, so we have to stack things high. Sometimes it’s hard to reach the top shelves without a stool. We know most of our customers by name. They come here because it’s convenient and they know what they’re getting. We don’t do any advertising or anything like that. People just know we are here. The floor is old stone and it’s seen a lot of feet walk over it. It gets really busy during festivals when everyone is buying supplies for sweets. We just try to keep up with the orders. It’s honest work. Sometimes we get tired, but that’s just how it is. We close up once the market starts to quiet down at night. It’s a simple life running a shop in this area. We don't have fancy displays, just gunny bags full of rice and dal. It stays quite dusty because of all the traffic outside, but we sweep it out every morning. That is just how the days go for us here.
