Akshay Pick Up Center

Our pick-up center is located out on the Jaipur Agra Road, very close to the Indra Bale Nikaten School in Paldi Meena. It’s a spot where the air is usually a bit dusty from all the heavy traffic moving toward the highway. The building itself is just a big open room with concrete floors and high ceilings. We spend our days receiving packages from big trucks and then sorting them out for people to come and collect. It’s a lot of physical work, moving boxes around and checking labels under the tube lights. We don't have any air conditioning, so we just keep the big shutter doors open to let the breeze in, even if it brings in some noise from the road. The staff is just a few local guys who know everyone in the neighborhood. We don't use any fancy scanners; mostly we just use a pen and a register to keep track of everything. Sometimes a package gets delayed and we have to explain it to a frustrated customer, which is the hardest part of the job. But mostly, people are happy to see their items have arrived. We don't have a fancy waiting area, just a single plastic chair near the entrance. It’s a straightforward business and we don't try to make it seem like more than it is. We are just here to make sure the mail gets where it needs to go.
