Uma Shanker Sharma here. My office is located at 57 Roop Nagar II, in the Mahesh Nagar area. It’s basically a converted part of the building where I’ve been for years. People in the neighborhood know the spot. I spend most of my day dealing with the local courts and helping people figure out their legal problems. It’s not a corporate firm with glass walls. It’s just an office with a few chairs and a lot of law books that I’ve collected over my career. I usually have a pot of coffee going and my door is open for most of the day. Sometimes people just walk in to ask a quick question about a property deed or a notice they received. I try to help where I can. The paperwork can be overwhelming sometimes, especially with the way the system moves slowly. I have a clerk who helps with the filing at the court, otherwise, I’d never get anything done. I like being in Mahesh Nagar because it’s close to home and I know the people around here. My way of working is pretty straightforward. I look at the facts and tell the client what the options are. It’s about being practical. Life is complicated enough without adding legal jargon into the mix. I just want to help people get through their legal issues without too much stress.
