Hills Cement Company Ltd is tucked away in the Village and Post Office area of Mynkre. We’re part of the Khliehriat Tehsil in the Jaintia Hills district. Being near National Highway-44 means there are always big trucks rolling past our gates. The hills around here are beautiful, though the weather can be a bit unpredictable. Sometimes the fog rolls in so thick you can't see the highway at all. We’ve been operating here for a while, providing cement to the local area and beyond. It’s a big operation, but we try to keep a local feel to it. Most of the people working here live in the nearby villages. We aren't some distant corporation; we’re part of the community in Mynkre. The work is heavy and constant. Cement doesn't make itself, after all. We spend our days managing the machinery and making sure the bags are loaded correctly. The highway makes it easy to ship things out, which is good because these roads can be tricky. We don't have a lot of fancy office space. Most of us are out on the floor or in the yard. It gets loud and dusty, but that’s the nature of the cement business. We’re proud to be located in Jaintia Hills. It’s a tough place to work sometimes because of the terrain, but we’ve made a good home here. We just keep our heads down and do the job every day without much fuss.
