Usawan Fed Producer Company Limited is right here in Usawan, specifically at Ward Number 8, C/O Bhojraj. We are a collective of producers in the local area. Instead of everyone working in their own little bubble, we thought it would be better to have a company to handle the bigger stuff. Usawan is a place where people know each other, so it made sense to start this. We don’t have a big budget for marketing or anything like that. Most of our meetings happen at someone’s house or out by the storage area. It’s a practical business. We deal with whatever the season throws at us. Sometimes it’s a good year and everyone is happy, and other times it’s a struggle just to break even. That is just the nature of what we do. Having the company means we can buy supplies together and maybe get a better price. It also helps with the legal bits that none of us really enjoy doing. We are just regular people who work with our hands. There is nothing polished or corporate about us. We just want to make sure the work we do in the fields actually pays off. Every day is a different challenge but we stick together because it’s the only way to get by in this business. We’re focused on the day-to-day tasks and keeping the local economy in Usawan moving.
