Shiv Shakti International School

Started the school near Bhedaghat Station because that’s where the land was. It is a bit out of the main Jabalpur city, so it’s quieter here except when the trains go past. The tracks are close enough that you can hear the rumble in the classrooms. We have been here for a while now. The building is just a normal concrete structure, nothing fancy to look at from the outside. Every morning, the staff arrives around eight. We open up the gates and wait for the students to show up. Some come on bikes, some walk from the nearby houses. It gets quite dusty in the summer months because of the open ground. We have some trees, but they are still growing. Inside, the rooms are basic. We have benches and blackboards. We don’t have those big air conditioners you see in city schools, just the regular ceiling fans that sometimes make a clicking noise. Most of the people working here live in Bheraghat or nearby areas of Jabalpur. We know most of the parents by their first names because we see them every day at the gate. It’s not a big corporate operation. We just try to get the lessons done and make sure the kids stay out of trouble during the break. Sometimes the water pump acts up and we have to fix it. It is just a regular life here.
