Ravi Traders

Ravi Traders is at No. 312 in Marsatal. We are right across the road from the Anjuman Shopping Center. This part of Marsatal is always humming with activity. There’s a big parking area for the shopping center, so there are always cars and rickshaws coming and going. Our shop is quite narrow but it goes back a long way. We have shelves that go all the way to the top, and we use a small wooden ladder to get to the things on the upper rows. It’s a bit of a squeeze when more than two or three people are inside at the same time. The floor is a simple cement one that’s been painted a few times, though the paint is mostly gone in the middle. We have a big counter at the front where we spend most of our time. There’s a ceiling fan that wobbles a bit, but it keeps the air moving. Outside, you can hear the street vendors calling out and the general bustle of the market. Marsatal is a good place to be because everything you need is within walking distance. We open up the shop around ten in the morning and stay late into the evening. We have a small back room where we keep the extra stock and a place to make some tea. It’s a traditional way of doing business, face to face with the local community. We just trade the goods people need. Every day is a bit different depending on who comes in.
