Keshobpur Agro Farmers Producer Companylimited is run out of Abul Kalam Sarkar’s place in Vill Islampurshishu Pally. Islampur is where we all live and work. Since we use a residential address for our main spot, it’s a very informal atmosphere. You might see children playing nearby or hear the sounds of the neighborhood while we are trying to talk business. We are a group of local farmers trying to organize ourselves better. Abul Kalam is usually around to help coordinate everything. We spend a lot of time sitting on the porch talking about the weather and how it’s going to affect the upcoming season. There isn't a reception desk or a sign on the door, you just have to know where to go. We deal with the practical side of farming, like where to get the best seeds or how to handle a pest problem. It’s a lot of hand-shaking and verbal agreements because that’s how things work in Islampur. We keep our records in a few trunks and a small cupboard. Sometimes the paperwork gets a bit behind because we are all busy out in the fields when the weather is right. It’s not a polished business, but it’s real. We are just neighbors helping neighbors to make sure the agro side of our village stays strong. Islampur is a tight community and we are proud to be part of it, doing the hard work together.
