Jyotsna Motor Driving School

Out here in Aralia, Agartala, we spend most of our time in the cars. Jyotsna Motor Driving School is basically operated from our spot here. We have a couple of older hatchbacks that have seen better days, but they work fine for learning the clutch and gears. The roads around Agartala can be a bit tricky with the traffic and the narrow turns, so we spend a lot of time just practicing the basics. We don’t have a big office or a lobby. Usually, people just meet us at the address 799006 and we get right into the driver’s seat. It’s practical work. We teach how to reverse without hitting the curb and how to handle the signals. Sometimes the air conditioning in the older car acts up, so we just roll the windows down and keep going. It’s a local business, run by people who grew up driving these same streets. We know where the potholes are and which turns are the worst. There’s no fancy simulation stuff here, just real wheels on real roads. We try to be patient because everyone stalls the engine a few times at the start. Teaching someone to drive in Agartala means being ready for anything, like a stray cow in the road or a sudden rainstorm that blurs the windshield. Our little office doesn't have much besides a calendar and a place to hang the car keys. We spend our lunch breaks sitting on the plastic chairs outside. It’s a humble way to make a living.
