Sonam General Stores

Sonam General Stores is located at 129 in the Ranipura area of Indore. We are in the part they call Nai Bagad. It’s a very crowded wholesale market area, so there is always a lot of shouting and moving around outside. Our shop sells a variety of general items that people need for their homes. We have everything from plastic buckets to small kitchen gadgets and toiletries. The streets here are very narrow, so getting goods delivered to the shop is a real headache every single time. We have to carry things through the alleys on our shoulders because the trucks can't get close. The shop is packed from floor to ceiling. You have to be careful where you step. We get a lot of people coming in from out of town because Ranipura is famous for shopping. It’s hot and sweaty work, especially in the afternoons. We don't have a computer system, we just remember the prices or look at the stickers. Sometimes we make mistakes and have to fix the bill. It’s a bit chaotic, but that’s just how business is done in this part of Indore. We stay open late because the market stays lively until the sun goes down. We just try to get through the day and help the customers find what they want. It’s noisy but it’s home for us.
