Shyam Art

Shyam Art has been running out of Plot No. 161 in Mechanic Nagar for quite some time. We are right across from the Sai Sampada Building. Our place is more of a workshop than a gallery. We do a lot of painting and sign work by hand. You can usually find us with paint on our fingers and brushes tucked behind our ears. Mechanic Nagar is a loud area. There are lots of workshops and garages nearby. There is always the sound of hammers or engines. We don't have any polished sales people or a big front desk. We just have our work tables and cans of paint everywhere. Sometimes the floor gets a bit messy with drips and sketches. We started this because we liked making things look better with color. It’s a simple way to make a living. We don't follow any corporate rules. If we need a break, we sit outside on a stool and watch the people going to the Sai Sampada Building. We like the fact that we can do things manually. We do not need a bunch of computers. The sun comes into the shop in the morning and it’s the best time to see the true colors of the paint we are mixing. We have been here for years. We know all the other shop owners in the lane. It’s a good community to be part of, even if it’s a bit gritty.
