Shiksha Margdarshan Kendra

If you walk down Anand Bazar Road and look across from Jain Mithai, you’ll find us in the basement of the Silver Spot building. Shop number five is where Shiksha Margdarshan Kendra is located. Being in a basement means it stays a little cooler in the summer, which is nice when the Indore heat gets to be too much. We set this place up because people kept asking for advice on where to study or what courses to take. It’s a small shop, and sometimes it gets a bit crowded when a few families come in at the same time. There are stacks of papers and some old folders on the desks, and the lighting isn't always the brightest, but it works for what we need. People mostly come in to talk about their futures or get some guidance on exams. We don't use any complicated systems, just some notebooks and our own experience from living and working here for years. You can usually hear the sounds of the street from the stairs, and the smell from the sweet shop across the way sometimes drifts in. It’s just a regular local spot where we try to be helpful to anyone who walks down those steps. We aren't trying to be a big corporate office. We just stay here, drink our tea, and talk to whoever needs a bit of direction with their schooling. The stairs are a bit steep, so you have to be careful coming down. We keep a few extra chairs in the corner for when parents want to sit and wait. It’s not fancy, but it gets the job done.
