Satnam General Store

You can find us right in Palsikar Colony, just across from the old SBI Bank and near the petrol pump. Being near the pump means there is always a bit of a crowd and the sound of scooters. We have been running Satnam General Store here at number 16 for years. It is a straightforward place. We have the usual things people need for their kitchens and bathrooms. In the morning, it gets a bit hectic when people are heading to work and realize they need something last minute. Indore is a busy city, and this neighborhood has changed quite a bit over time. We still keep the shop looking much the same though. There are racks of snacks and rows of bottles. Sometimes the inventory arrives and we have to move boxes around for a couple of hours to make space. It’s a lot of lifting and counting. We don’t have a computer system for everything, we still use a notebook for many things. It works for us. The tea stall nearby brings over some chai in the afternoon, which is a nice break. We see the same faces every day, which makes the work feel less like a job and more like just being part of the colony. We aren't trying to be a big supermarket, just a local store where you can get your groceries without any fuss. It stays open until late and we do our best to keep everything in stock.
