Our family has been running things here at 34 Ware House Road for a long time. It’s a family business, passed down through the brothers, and we’ve seen the street change quite a bit over the years. The warehouse is an old building, but it does the job just fine. We have rows of shelving that go all the way to the ceiling, filled with all sorts of things we’ve collected and sold over the decades. It’s a bit dark inside even during the day, so we have some overhead lights that flicker a bit when they first turn on. We don’t have a website or anything like that; we just rely on the folks who know where we are. Dealing with the brothers means there’s always someone to talk to, even if we’re arguing about where a specific crate went. It’s a lot of manual work, moving boxes and checking lists. We get a lot of dust on our shirts by noon, but that’s part of the trade. The neighborhood is mostly other warehouses and small shops, so it’s always active with people moving goods around. We close up a bit early on Saturdays to spend time at home. There’s no fancy lobby or air conditioning in the main storage area, just the smell of old wood and whatever we happen to be stocking that month. It’s a simple life and we’re happy to keep the doors open.
