Being in the Gnt Market means we are right in the thick of the local trading scene every single day. Specifically, we are at 216/1 in Namak Wali Gali, which is a narrow lane that has a lot of history to it. The name of the lane suggests what used to happen here a long time ago, but these days Padmawati Enterprises handles all sorts of things. It is a very crowded area, and you have to be careful walking down the lane because there are always carts and people moving goods back and forth. Our space is small and packed from the floor to the ceiling with stock. We have gotten very good at navigating the piles of boxes to find exactly what we need for a customer. It is an old-school way of doing business where you know all your neighbors and you hear all the gossip from the market every morning. The smell of the market is something you never quite forget, a mix of everything being sold nearby. We do not have much in the way of air conditioning, so we rely on the old ceiling fans and the shade of the narrow buildings to keep cool during the summer. Most of the day is spent talking to other traders and making sure our deliveries are ready to go out into the maze of the market. It is a loud, busy, and sometimes messy way to work, but it is how things are done here.
