Neha General Store

Our shop is right on the Main Road here in Tilak Nagar, Indore. If you live around 117, you’ve probably walked past us a dozen times. It’s a busy spot with lots of bikes and cars zooming by all day long. We keep the doors open from early morning when the milk crates arrive until quite late at night. The shop isn't very large, so we have to stack the boxes pretty high. Sometimes it’s a bit of a struggle to reach the stuff on the top shelf, but we manage. We sell the basic things people need for their kitchens, like salt, sugar, and various spices. There is also a small section for toiletries and cleaning supplies. It gets quite dusty because of the road, so we spend a lot of time wiping down the jars and packets. We aren't doing anything special or new, just providing what the neighborhood asks for. Some days are slow and we just sit and listen to the radio. Other times, four people come in at once and it gets a little chaotic. We don't use any fancy bags, just whatever we have. My nephew helps out sometimes after school when I need to go home for lunch. It’s a local business and we’ve known most of our customers for years. It’s just how things are around here in Indore. People come in, get their bread, complain about the heat, and move on with their day.
