Narayani Departmental Stores

You will find Narayani Departmental Stores at 124-A on Mahalaxmi Temple Road. We are right at the main square of Mahalaxmi Nagar in Indore. Since the temple is so close, the road is always full of people, especially on Tuesdays and holidays. You can hear the temple bells from the shop floor. Unlike the smaller kiosks, we have a bit more space, with aisles that people can actually walk through to pick up their own groceries. We have white tile floors that I try to keep clean, though it’s hard with all the foot traffic. We stock everything from local Indore snacks to bottled juices and dairy products. The shelves are metal and go all the way up to the ceiling, so I have to use a small ladder to reach the stuff on top. The main square gets very bright and dusty, so we have a large glass front to keep the interior a bit cooler. I usually stand near the billing counter, which is just a simple wooden table with a cash drawer. It’s a good spot to watch the world go by on Temple Road. We don't do any big advertisements; the people who live in the flats nearby just know we are here for their milk and bread. It’s a steady stream of people from morning until night. We just try to keep the staples in stock so nobody has to go home empty-handed.
