Mahaveer General Stores

Mahaveer General Stores is situated on the Main Road in Ushaganj, Indore. We are at 11/1, right where the traffic is always moving. It’s a different vibe from the shops tucked away in the side lanes. Since we are on the main road, we get a lot of people who just pull over their scooters to pick up something quick on their way home. We carry all the basic household items you’d expect—spices, cleaning supplies, and some snacks. The dust from the road is a bit of a problem, so we’re always wiping down the glass jars. It’s a family-run thing, and we’ve been here at this address for years. The shop is quite packed, and sometimes it's hard to find where I put the smaller items like matchboxes or safety pins. We don’t use any computer systems; we still do everything by hand and keep a manual tally. It keeps us busy from morning until we close late in the evening. There’s always someone coming in for a last-minute item they forgot for dinner. We don’t have much room for people to stand inside, so most transactions happen right at the front door. It’s a practical little spot for the neighborhood folks and the commuters passing through Ushaganj. I usually spend my time restocking the shelves while my brother talks to the customers. It’s just the two of us making sure everything runs okay every day and checking the inventory.
