Maharistrian Sarees

We’ve been at 198 M. G. Road for a long time. It’s a busy street, as anyone from around here knows. Maharistrian Sarees is what's on the board outside. We mainly focus on the traditional styles that people around here like to wear. The shop isn't huge, but we make the most of the space. We have sarees tucked into every corner and drawer. It’s a lot of work keeping everything dusted and folded properly after a customer looks at them. My uncle started this place and now I help run it. We see a lot of people passing by every day. Some just peek in through the glass, others stay for hours looking at different patterns. We don't push anyone to buy anything. We just show them what we have on the racks. The floor is old wood and it creaks when you walk on it. It gives the place some character, I guess. We get our stock from different weavers across the region. Sometimes the shipments take forever to arrive. We don't have a computer system for the inventory, we just write everything down in a big ledger. It works for us and we haven't lost anything yet. When it gets busy, we all chip in to help. Even the delivery boys know where the tea shop is, so we usually have something to drink while we work. It’s a simple life and a simple business.
