This is just a regular kirana store located in the Vijay Nagar area of Indore. We are quite close to Kibs Hospital, so we see a lot of people coming and going from there. The shop is nothing special to look at, just a room filled with the usual groceries like flour, rice, and cooking oil. Indore is a nice city, and this neighborhood is usually quite clean, but I still have to sweep the front of the shop three times a day. We keep some basic items that people might need if they are visiting the hospital, like bottled water, biscuits, and fruit juices. I have a small refrigerator for the milk and curd, which hums loudly all day long. Most of our regular customers live in the nearby flats and come in for their daily needs. I’ve got a couple of plastic chairs outside where some of the older men sit and talk in the evenings. We don't have a computerized billing system or anything like that. I just use a calculator and a small pad of paper to add things up. The shelves are made of metal and they rust a bit at the edges. I keep the packets of tea and coffee near the front because everyone seems to be looking for those. It’s just a way to make a living, selling the things that people use in their kitchens every day. No big fuss, just a simple shop.
