Our place is at 86, Taradevi Road in Siyaganj. If you know Siyaganj, you know it’s always crowded and noisy. We’ve been here for years. It’s a trading hub. We handle different goods as an agency. The shop—or office, really—is packed with stuff. Boxes everywhere. We don’t have much room for a lobby. Usually, there’s someone sitting at the front desk handling the walk-ins. It’s a lot of wholesale talk. We deal with local shops and bigger distributors. Siyaganj is the heart of commerce here, so we’re right in the middle of the chaos. The roads are narrow and trucks are always blocking the way. We’re used to it. My cousin used to work here, now it’s just me and a few others. We keep things simple. No big slogans or flashy advertisements. We just write down orders and get them filled. The ceiling fan wobbles a bit, but it keeps the air moving. We drink a lot of chai during the day. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit outside on the steps. It’s a basic life in a busy market. We’ve seen the neighborhood change, but our building stays the same. Just a bunch of guys working with goods and ledgers. We don't pretend to be anything we aren't. Khandewal Agencies has just always been here on Taradevi Road. We close up around 7 PM and head home for the day.
