Ethnic Sarees

You will find Ethnic Sarees right across from the Gurudwara on Street Number 4 in Maheshwar. We are located in the Khargone district, and it’s a very traditional place to live and work. The shop is quite small and smells a bit like old wood and fabric. We have been here for a long time and have seen many changes in the town. Every morning we open the shutters and sweep the front step. We have wooden benches for people to sit on while they look through what we have. Most of our stock is kept in big cupboards along the walls. We don't use computers or any fancy gadgets here. All our notes and records are kept in a thick paper diary. The lighting is a bit dim, but the natural light from the doorway helps during the day. When the prayers start at the Gurudwara, it’s a nice sound to work to. We spend a lot of time folding and refolding the sarees to keep them neat. It’s a slow process, but we aren't in any hurry. Sometimes a neighbor will bring over some tea and we’ll sit and talk for a bit. It’s a very local way of doing things. We don't have a big sign or any advertisements. People just know where we are. It’s a quiet life, and we are happy with it.
