Agrawal General Stores

You can find us at 71 Agrawal Nagar here in Indore. Being in Agrawal Nagar means we mostly serve the families living right around us. We have been in this spot for years. The store isn’t huge, but we pack a lot into it. We carry everything from notebooks to cleaning supplies. Sometimes it feels like we have too much stuff and not enough space. People drop in for things they forgot to buy at the big market. We don’t have fancy uniforms or a corporate manual. We just talk to people like they are our neighbors, which they usually are. The fans overhead keep things a bit cool, but it still gets warm in the afternoons. We handle the billing ourselves. It’s a lot of standing and moving things around. Some of the wooden shelves are a bit worn down now. We don't mind. It shows we’ve been working. Every day is pretty much the same routine, but we like the familiarity of it. We know when the milk delivery comes and when the school kids will show up for chocolates. It is just a normal life in a normal shop. We sometimes have to chase away the stray dogs that try to sleep in the shade of our doorway. That is just how it is here. There is nothing special about what we do, but we keep doing it.
