Maitribala Horticulture Farmers Producer Company Limited

We set up Maitribala Horticulture Farmers Producer Company Limited down on Indi Road inside the T.A.P.M.C Complex. It’s mostly just us folks working with the local growers around here. We deal with fruits and vegetables mostly because that's what the soil here allows for. It’s not a fancy office or anything like that. Just a desk and some chairs where we talk about the season. Sometimes the rain helps and sometimes it doesn't, but we keep going. Working together as a group of farmers makes more sense than trying to handle everything alone. We spend a lot of time out in the fields and then meet up at the complex to figure out where the produce is going. There are plenty of challenges with transport and getting the right price, but having a collective helps a bit. People stop by the office when they are in town for market day. It gets dusty and loud with all the trucks moving around, but that’s just how it is at the T.A.P.M.C. We don’t have a big staff, just a few of us who know the land. We’ve lived here all our lives and know most of the families farming these plots. It’s hard work and the days are long, especially during harvest time. We just try to get the crops moved and make sure everyone gets a fair shake. It’s a simple setup we’ve got going on Indi Road. We don't have fancy logos or anything, just our name on the door and some ledgers to keep track.
