We are based out near Tarasevania, which is close to the Paravalia Sadak. It is a bit of a drive from the main parts of town, so things stay relatively quiet around here. The school sits on a plot of land that gives the kids some room to move around during their lunch breaks. The building is a basic concrete structure that we’ve had to patch up a few times after the heavy rains. Inside, the rooms are fairly simple. We have the usual wooden desks and chairs, some of which have seen better days. The walls have some charts and maps pinned up, but they tend to curl at the edges because of the humidity. Most of the kids come from the nearby villages and walk or bike in every morning. We don't have a big bus system or anything like that. In the mornings, you can see the fog hanging over the fields nearby until the sun burns it off. We spend a lot of time just keeping the place running, making sure the chalk is stocked and the water tank is full. It is not a fancy setup by any means, but it serves the people who live out this way. We deal with the usual problems like power cuts or the occasional leak in the roof, but we just get on with it and keep the classes moving as best as we can.
