Tea County, A Ktdc Luxury Hill Resort

Being up here in Munnar means we deal with a lot of mist and rain. The resort is part of the KTDC group and sits on a hill in the 685612 area. It’s a pretty big place. We have a lot of rooms and they all look out over the hills. The grass stays green most of the year because of the weather. We spend a lot of time cleaning up leaves and making sure the paths are clear. It's quiet most nights, except for the birds or the wind. The building is solid and has been around for quite some time now. We have a lot of staff who come from the villages nearby. They know these hills better than anyone. The lobby has some heavy furniture and big windows. We don't really go for that modern look; it's more traditional. People come here to get away from the heat in the plains. Sometimes the clouds come right up to the windows. We serve meals in the dining hall which has a high ceiling. It gets busy during the holidays when everyone wants to see the tea gardens. We don't have a lot of fancy gadgets. It's more about the view and the fresh air. The road up here is a bit windy, so people usually arrive a bit tired. We just try to get them settled into their rooms without too much fuss. It is a simple life up here on the hill.
