About Sathuragiri Spices – Food & Beverages in Idukki
We’ve been here at Plot No. 450 for a while now. Being so close to the Munnar Market Junction means it gets quite busy around here, especially in the mornings when the trucks start rolling in. We mostly spend our time dealing with different spices that come from the hills around us. It’s a lot of work, honestly. You have to check the bags, make sure everything smells right, and keep the dampness out because Munnar is famous for its rain. Some days it feels like we are just moving sacks from one corner to another. People stop by on their way to the main market, usually asking for directions or just seeing what we have in stock today. We don’t have any fancy displays or anything like that. It’s just us and the spices in a simple building. Sometimes the smell of pepper or cardamom is so strong it stays on your clothes all day. My family helps out when things get backed up. We just try to keep things organized and get the orders out when they are supposed to go. It isn’t always perfect, and sometimes the traffic at the junction makes it hard for the pickups to arrive on time. But we manage. Most of the people around here know us by now. We just open up early, sweep the front, and get to work. It’s a quiet enough life most of the time, despite the market noise.
