Matha Plantantation

Our place is located in the Idukki district, right near Archana Hospital. It’s a beautiful part of the country, though the terrain can make the work a bit difficult sometimes. Running a plantation involves a lot of walking and manual labor. We grow a variety of things depending on the season and the weather. Idukki is known for its greenery, and we are right in the thick of it. We’ve been working this land for quite a few years now. It’s not a corporate farm; it’s more of a family-run operation. We spend most of our days outdoors, checking on the plants and dealing with whatever problems come up, like pests or too much rain. Being near the hospital means people often use it as a landmark to find us. We don't have a big sales office or anything. Most of our business is done right here on the ground or over the phone with buyers. It’s a quiet life for the most part, except when we are harvesting. Then everything becomes very frantic for a few weeks. We have to keep an eye on the market prices and the soil quality all year round. It’s a lot of responsibility to keep everything growing well. We don't use a lot of fancy machinery, just basic tools and a lot of hard work. It’s just the way we’ve always done things here in Idukki, and it keeps us busy from sunrise to sunset.
