Friend Industries

If you take the Thodupuzha to Poomala Road, you will find Friend Industries in Muthalakodam. It’s a green part of the country, and we like being out here away from the biggest cities. The name "Friend" was chosen because we wanted people to feel okay about coming in and talking to us. We handle a lot of the processing here. It is a messy job sometimes, especially when the weather is damp. We have a simple building where we store the raw materials and do the work. There aren’t many of us, so we all have to do a bit of everything. One day I might be fixing a machine, and the next I’m helping load a truck. We don't have any formal meetings or big plans. We just look at what needs to be done each morning and we do it. The road outside can be quiet during the middle of the day, which is a nice break from the noise of the machines. We get our supplies from the local area, so we know the farmers pretty well. They stop by with their loads, and we spend some time catching up on local news while we weigh the bags. It’s a relaxed way to run a business, even if the work itself is physically hard. We just keep the facility running and try to make sure everything stays on schedule. It’s just how we live and work here in this small corner of the world where the road winds through the hills.
