Kattapana is famous for its hills and the things that grow on them, and that’s where we are. Elelyon Spices is located at Puthusseril House in Kalthotty. If you’ve ever been to this part of Idukki, you know how green it is. We spend our days surrounded by the smell of different spices. It’s a very specific kind of work, sorting through everything and getting it ready for people to use. We don't have a giant warehouse with robots. It’s mostly manual work done by people who live right here in Kalthotty. We work out of a house, which is pretty common for businesses around here. It keeps the overhead low and the atmosphere friendly. The weather can get quite misty and wet, which affects how we handle the spices, so we have to be careful. We aren't trying to be the biggest spice company in the world. We just want to do a decent job with the spices we get from this region. It’s a lot of weighing, cleaning, and packing. Sometimes the roads are difficult after a heavy rain, which makes transport a bit slow, but we’re used to it. We don't have any polished sales pitches. We just let the quality of the Idukki spices speak for itself. It’s a steady life and we’re happy to be part of the local community here in Kattapana.
