Edens Food & Spices

Up in the hills of Kattappana, the air is usually damp and smells like rain. We have Edens Food & Spices located in Puliyanmala. It’s a green part of the world, and we’re lucky to be right where the spices are grown. The building isn't much to talk about—just a sturdy place to keep the rain out and the spices dry. We spend a lot of time sorting through what the local farmers bring in. Kattappana is a busy market town, so there’s always movement on the roads, even if they are winding and steep. Our day starts early, usually with a lot of heavy lifting and moving bags around. We don’t have a big corporate structure or a bunch of managers. It’s just a few of us who know the business and how to handle the crops. The office part is just a small desk in the corner with a ledger and an old phone. It gets quiet in the evenings when the mist comes down. We aren't trying to be the biggest company out there; we just want to keep things moving and get the work finished. It’s a practical life here in the high ranges. We just deal with the weather, the mountains, and the spices as they come.
