Vijaya Kumar General Store

Being right across from the bus depot in Gowli Guda means there’s always noise and people moving about. We’ve been at this shop, number 15-4-97, for quite some time now. You can see the buses coming and going all day long from the front step. People usually run in because they’re in a hurry to catch a ride and they need a quick bottle of water or some snacks for the journey. We keep all the regular general items that families in the area need. It’s not a big place, but we pack a lot onto the shelves at Vijaya Kumar General Store. The shelves are high and sometimes I have to use the small ladder to reach the top rows. It gets quite warm in the afternoons, but we have a small fan that keeps things okay. The address is on Bus Depot Road, which makes it easy for people to find us even if they aren't from this part of Hyderabad. We see a lot of travelers, but our main business is still the locals who live in the back lanes. They come for their dals, spices, and cleaning supplies. I try to keep everything organized, though it gets a bit messy when we get a new delivery of crates. It’s a lot of lifting and moving boxes, but that’s part of the job. Most days pass by quickly because there’s always someone at the counter.
