Venkateshwarla Kirana & General Store

Running Venkateshwarla Kirana & General Store keeps me on my feet most of the day, especially since we are located so close to the Janapriya Apartments in Attapur. Those big apartment complexes bring in a lot of families, so we have to stay stocked up on everything from washing powder to different kinds of pickles. The shop is on the ground level in Hyderguda, and you can usually hear the kids playing nearby in the evenings. I like the morning time best when it is quiet and I can arrange the new stock that arrived the night before. The shelves are mostly wooden, and I have tried to organize them by category, but things often get mixed up when we are busy. We have the usual stuff like eggs, bread, and local spices that people use for their daily cooking. Sometimes the power goes out in the afternoon, and it gets a bit dark inside, but we keep a torch handy. It is not a place with air conditioning or glass doors, just a regular open front where you can walk right up to the counter. I have a small television in the corner to catch the news when there are no customers, but that does not happen very often. Most people who live in Janapriya know they can just hop down and grab what they forgot for dinner without much fuss.
