Veera Badhra Kirana & General Stores

Down in Pedda Amberpet, we have this little shop. It is mostly just us handling the bags of grain and the jars of candy. Hayathnagar is a growing area but our corner stays pretty much the same. We have the usual items people ask for when they realize they ran out of sugar or oil in the middle of cooking. The floor is concrete and we have to sweep it a few times a day because people bring in sand from the street. There is no big sign, just the name written on the wall basically. We spend a lot of time weighing things out on the old scale. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to use a torch to find the specific brand of tea someone wants. It gets loud when the buses go by on the main road. I usually sit on a plastic stool near the entrance so I can see who is coming. We have some jars of pickles that my aunt makes sitting on the top shelf. They are not for sale usually but sometimes we let people try them. The ceiling is a bit low so you have to watch your head if you are tall. We don't have a computer or anything, just a notebook where we write down what we need to buy from the big market next week. It is just a simple way to spend the day. Usually, we close up late once the street lights come on outside.
