Upper Assam Tea Company

We are set up over in Sultan Bazar, right in the Abids area. The address is 4-2-301 if you are looking for the exact door. It’s a crowded part of town, which keeps us pretty busy most days of the week. We mostly handle tea that comes in from up north, specifically Assam. There’s a lot of history with tea in that region, and we try to bring a bit of that here to the city. The shop itself is fairly small, filled with sacks and containers. We spend a lot of our time weighing things out and packing them for people who walk in. It gets noisy outside with all the street vendors and traffic, but that’s just Sultan Bazar for you. We don’t really use fancy packaging or spend money on big signs. Most people know us because their parents or neighbors bought tea from us before. We try to keep things simple and just focus on the tea itself. If the tea is good, people come back, and that’s really all there is to it. We drink a lot of it ourselves while we work. It helps pass the time when things are slow in the afternoons. Abids has changed a lot over the years, but we’ve stayed right here in the same spot. We just keep doing what we know and hope people keep coming by for their usual supply of leaves.
