Todays Fresh

You can find Todays Fresh on the first floor of the Suraksha Building in Lakshmi Nagar. It’s a bit of a climb up the stairs, but we’ve got a decent setup here. We started this because there weren't many places nearby doing what we do. The space is actually part of an older building, so the plumbing can be a bit temperamental sometimes. We spend a lot of time just prepping everything. Cutting vegetables, cleaning fruit, making sure the containers are sealed right. It’s a lot of manual work that people don’t see from the outside. We aren't really a sit-down place, it’s more for people picking things up on their way home. My sister helps me with the orders and we have one delivery boy who knows the Lakshmi Nagar backstreets better than anyone. Sometimes we get the proportions slightly different, but that’s what happens when you do everything by hand. We don't use big machines for everything. The lighting in the hallway isn't the best, but once you get inside our door, it's bright enough. We don't have a marketing team or anything like that. We just put a board out front and hope people see it. It’s a quiet way to make a living. Most of our day is spent handling produce and talking to the vendors who come by with supplies. It keeps us on our toes and the days go by pretty fast.
