You can find us at 6-2-553/A in New Bhoiguda, right here in Secunderabad. We open the shutters pretty early in the morning because that’s when people want their milk and eggs before heading to work. The shop is filled with bags of rice, pulses, and all those small things you realize you’ve run out of while you’re cooking dinner. It’s a bit cramped inside because we try to keep everything in stock, so you have to watch your step between the crates. I’ve been behind this counter for years. I know which brand of soap the lady from the third floor likes and which biscuits the kids want after school. It’s a noisy street with the traffic and the people walking to the station. We don’t have any fancy displays or neon lights. It’s just shelves full of stuff that people actually use. Sometimes the deliveries arrive late and we have to stack boxes on the sidewalk for a bit. My hands are usually busy weighing out sugar or counting change. We stay open until late because there’s always someone who forgot something at the last minute. It’s a simple life running a kirana store, but it keeps me connected to everyone in New Bhoiguda. We aren't trying to be a supermarket; we're just the local shop where you can get what you need and talk for a minute. My son helps out on the weekends.
