Students Book House

Down here at 55 Bhavani Nagar in the Talab Katta area, that is where you'll find Students Book House. It is a simple shop that focuses on what the name suggests. We have a lot of school supplies and textbooks crammed into a relatively small space. The neighborhood is very residential, so we see a lot of the same faces every day. Kids come in after school to get pens or notebooks, and parents stop by for exam guides. It gets very crowded in the evenings when everyone is out and about. We have books stacked all the way to the ceiling in some places. You really have to know where you are going or you might get lost in the narrow aisles. We don't have any fancy displays. The books are just organized by subject on wooden shelves that have seen some wear and tear. Talab Katta is a busy place with a lot of energy. Sometimes we sit outside on a stool when the shop is empty just to get some air. We do a lot of our business in cash and keep a handwritten ledger for most things. It’s an old-fashioned way of doing things, but it works for us. We try to keep the most popular items near the front so they are easy to grab. The lighting isn't great, but we have a few extra lamps near the back. It’s a busy, cramped, and noisy shop, but it’s our daily life here.
